Chip Donovan is a Weazel News reporter, and that is genuinely the whole character.
He came up on OCRP as an apprentice under JT Whitlock, played by IanGoesCiv, went out on his first story, and was promoted to full reporter by the end of it. Since then he has been out with the Weazel crew covering the news, wherever the news happens to be.
Weazel style is the operating principle and it is followed literally: they make up the news and make it do what they want it to do. A story gets its narrative before it gets any facts, and the facts are fitted to it afterward. Accuracy is not a constraint, and neither is access or permission.
Chip delivers all of it in a real anchor’s voice, with total broadcast confidence, and nothing in the presentation suggests the whole operation is invented. Anyone who ends up on camera becomes part of whatever story is being told, whether or not that is what they were doing.
He works best with the crew around him. Chip alone is a man with a microphone. Chip with the crew is Weazel News, and the strangest places those stories end up are never planned.
