Jethro is the name on the paperwork. Nobody uses it. He is Jet, and the only time anyone hears Jethro is when an officer is reading it off a screen back to him.
Jet is a mid twenties felon on parole who is not supposed to be doing any of what he does. No firearms, no anything, which makes every routine police contact something other than routine for him.
He runs with his cousin Bart, played by boochacha, who is his best friend and the other half of the act. Bart is an influencer who wants to film and hang out. Jet is the one who turns hanging out into a problem. He is the aggressive half: where Bart would let something go, Jet pushes.
The schemes are always about money, always small, and always poorly thought through. Stealing a van comes up more than once. Selling something on the side. Whatever presents itself. There is no crew, no supplier and no plan for afterward, so the thinking-it-through part tends to happen during the police response.
When he is confronted, his first instinct is to explain. He builds long, detailed stories on the spot, all of them arranged so that neither he nor Bart did anything wrong, and he defends a detail he invented ten seconds ago like it is a matter of record. He is not a good liar. He is a prolific one.
Then he runs. Every time, from every contact, automatically. And once he and Bart are both in custody, they turn on each other instantly, each explaining at length that the whole thing was the other one’s idea. It never damages the friendship. Next time they are right back together like nothing happened.
